BIOGRAPHY:
St. Joseph, the foster father of Jesus and spouse of the Virgin Mary, played a crucial role in salvation history. A descendant of the House of David, he was a righteous and God-fearing man. When he discovered that Mary was expecting a child, he planned to leave her quietly, but an angel appeared in a dream and revealed that the child was conceived by the Holy Spirit. Joseph accepted Mary as his wife and traveled with her to Bethlehem, where Jesus was born. Later, he fled to Egypt to protect the child from King Herod. After returning, the family settled in Nazareth, where Joseph worked as a carpenter and lovingly raised Jesus.
