BIOGRAPHY:
St. John, also known as "the beloved disciple of Jesus," was one of the twelve apostles and the brother of St. James the Greater. He was originally a fisherman from Bethsaida before being called by Jesus. He became one of Christ's closest followers and witnessed key events in the New Testament, including the Transfiguration and the Last Supper. After Jesus' crucifixion, he took care of Mary, the mother of Christ. According to tradition, he later lived in Ephesus, where he wrote the Gospel of John and the Book of Revelation. Unlike the other apostles, he was not martyred but died of natural causes at an old age.
