BIOGRAPHY:
Saint Beatus, also known as San Beatus, is regarded as the first Christian missionary in Switzerland. He is said to have been a disciple of the Apostle Peter, who ordained him as a priest. According to legend, Saint Beatus lived as a hermit on the shores of Lake Thun, residing in a cave where he converted the local population to Christianity. One tradition even claims that he defeated a dragon dwelling in the cave, a story that greatly contributed to his status as a saint. Saint Beatus died at an advanced age and is still venerated today in the Beatus Cave near Interlaken.
