When did Saint Eskil live: 11th century AD

BIOGRAPHY:
Saint Eskil was an English missionary who worked in Sweden during the 11th century. He was sent by Saint Sigfrid of Växjö to spread Christianity among the pagans. Eskil became the bishop of Tuna (now Eskilstuna) and preached with great zeal. However, his mission also made him enemies among the pagan leaders. During a sacrificial ceremony, Saint Eskil openly opposed the pagan rituals and tried to convert the people. This angered the pagans, who stoned him to death. After his martyrdom, his grave became a pilgrimage site, and his veneration spread.
