BIOGRAPHY:
St. Henry was born around 973 and became King of the Holy Roman Empire in 1002. In 1014, he was crowned Emperor in Rome by Pope Benedict VIII. A deeply religious ruler, St. Henry worked to strengthen the Church, founding numerous monasteries and supporting Christian faith. He established the Diocese of Bamberg in 1007, which he ardently promoted. His marriage to St. Cunigunde remained childless, as both took a vow of chastity. He passed away in 1024 and was canonized in 1146.
