BIOGRAPHY:
Saint Aloysius Gonzaga was born in 1568 into a noble family in Castiglione delle Stiviere. From a young age, he chose an ascetic life, rejecting the military and political career planned for him. Instead, he joined the Society of Jesus in 1585. His deep piety, humility, and devotion to God defined his short life. During a plague epidemic in Rome in 1591, he cared for the sick and contracted the disease himself. He died on June 21 of the same year at the age of just 23. He was canonized in 1726.
