BIOGRAPHY:
Saint Urban was a bishop of Rome in the 3rd century and served as pope from 222 to 230 AD. During his papacy, he promoted the growth of Christian communities, strengthened the sacraments, and introduced church regulations. Despite the persecutions under Emperor Alexander Severus, St. Urban managed to consolidate the Church. He is associated with the conversion of many pagans and is said to have performed numerous miracles. According to legend, he hid in vineyards during the persecution of Christians, which is why he later became the patron saint of winemakers. St. Urban likely died as a martyr, and his relics are venerated in various churches.
