BIOGRAPHY:
Saint Padre Pio, born Francesco Forgione on May 25, 1887, in Pietrelcina, Italy, was a Capuchin friar and priest. From an early age, he displayed deep piety and decided to dedicate his life to God at the age of five. At 15, he joined the Capuchin Order and took the name Pio. On August 10, 1910, he was ordained a priest. St. Padre Pio became known for the appearance of the stigmata in 1918, which he bore until his death. These wounds attracted numerous believers who revered him as a holy man. Despite initial skepticism within the Church, he was canonized in 2002.
PATRONAGE:
St. Padre Pio is the patron saint of civil defenders, voluntary charity organizations, youth, Catholic adoration groups, and the city of Pietrelcina.
