BIOGRAPHY:
Saint Cornelius was Pope of the Catholic Church from 251 to 253 AD, during a time of Christian persecution under Emperor Decius. He was known for his leniency towards Christians who had renounced their faith during the persecution, allowing them to be readmitted to the Church. This led to a conflict with the antipope Novatian. Cornelius was eventually exiled and died in exile, likely as a martyr.
