BIOGRAPHY:
St. Marius was a Persian nobleman who, along with his wife Martha and sons Audifax and Abachum, traveled to Rome as a pilgrim to visit the tombs of the apostles Peter and Paul. During their stay, the family assisted persecuted Christians, particularly by burying the bodies of executed martyrs. Their actions led to their arrest during the persecutions under Emperor Claudius II Gothicus. They were tortured and eventually executed in 270 AD in Rome. St. Marius' body was recovered by the Christian matron Felicitas and buried in Boccea, near Rome.
