BIOGRAPHY:
St. Ulrich was born in 890 in Augsburg and served as bishop of the city from 923 until his death in 973. He dedicated his life to strengthening the Church and defending his diocese against the invading Magyars. Ulrich was known for his charity and efforts in church reform. He played a crucial role in the Battle of Lechfeld in 955, where the Magyars were defeated. After his death, he was officially canonized by Pope John XV in 993, becoming the first saint to be formally canonized by the Church.
