When did Saint Landelin of Crespin live: 625 - 686
BIOGRAPHY:
Saint Landelin of Crespin was born around the year 625 in Vaux near Bapaume (modern-day France). He came from a noble family and was educated under the guidance of Saint Aubert, Bishop of Cambrai. However, in his youth, he strayed from the right path and became the leader of a band of robbers. After the sudden murder of one of his companions, he experienced a profound conversion and repented, returning to the Christian faith. Bishop Aubert welcomed him back, had him do penance, and later ordained him as a deacon and priest. Seeking a life of penance and prayer, Landelin withdrew into solitude in Lobbes on the Sambre River. There, around 650, he founded the monastery of Lobbes, followed by the abbeys of Aulne and Crespin. He remained abbot of Crespin until his death on June 15, 686, where he is still venerated today.
