BIOGRAPHY:
Saint Robert of Molesme was a French abbot and co-founder of the Cistercian Order. Born around 1029, he joined a Benedictine monastery at an early age. After several attempts at reform, he founded the Abbey of Molesme in 1075, focusing on strict monastic discipline. Dissatisfied with the relaxation of the rules, he withdrew with a small group of monks to Cîteaux, laying the foundation for the later Cistercian Order. However, at the Pope's request, he returned to Molesme, where he served as abbot until his death in 1111. His dedication to monastic reform made him a key figure in medieval religious history.
