BIOGRAPHY:
St. Adalhard of Corbie was a Frankish Benedictine monk and advisor to Charlemagne. Born around 751, he entered the monastery of Corbie at an early age and later became its abbot. His most significant achievement was the foundation of the monastery of Corvey in Saxony, which played a key role in the Christian mission of the region. During the reign of Louis the Pious, he was exiled for political reasons but later reinstated. Adalhard was a brilliant theologian, skilled organizer, and one of the most important monastic reformers of his time. He died on January 2, 826, and was soon venerated as a saint.
