BIOGRAPHY:
St. Jonathan was the eldest son of King Saul and a close friend of David, the future king of Israel. He is described in the Bible as a brave warrior and a loyal ally. Despite the conflict between his father Saul and David, Jonathan remained steadfastly loyal to his friend and protected him from Saul's wrath. His friendship with David is seen as a model of true loyalty and selfless love. Jonathan died alongside his father in battle against the Philistines on Mount Gilboa.
