BIOGRAPHY:
Saint Timothy was a disciple of Saint Paul and one of his most trusted companions. Born in Lystra, Asia Minor, he was the son of a Jewish mother and a Greek father. Paul took him along on his missionary journeys and entrusted him with leading various Christian communities, including that of Ephesus, where he became a bishop. He is mentioned in several New Testament letters, particularly the two pastoral epistles addressed to him. According to tradition, he was martyred in Ephesus, stoned to death for denouncing pagan rituals.
