BIOGRAPHY:
Saints Cosmas and Damian were twin brothers born in the 3rd century AD in Arabia. They practiced as physicians and were notable for offering their medical services free of charge, earning them the nickname "Unmercenaries." Their selfless work and Christian faith eventually led to their martyrdom during the persecutions under Emperor Diocletian around the year 303. According to tradition, they were beheaded and have since been venerated as martyrs and saints.
