BIOGRAPHY:
St. German of Paris was born around 496 in what is now the Burgundy region. From an early age, he showed deep piety and joined a monastery. He later became abbot of St. Symphorian in Autun and gained great recognition for his ascetic lifestyle and charity. In 555, he was appointed Bishop of Paris and became known for his advocacy for the poor and marginalized. He strongly opposed corruption at the royal court, earning both supporters and adversaries. After his death in 576, he was soon venerated as a saint, and his relics were preserved in the church of Saint-Germain-des-Prés in Paris.
