BIOGRAPHY:
Saint Coelestin V., born Pietro Angelerio around 1215 in Italy, withdrew early in life to live as a hermit. He later founded the Celestine Order, a branch of the Benedictines. In 1294, he was unexpectedly elected pope but accepted the role reluctantly. After only five months, he voluntarily resigned, feeling unfit for the responsibility. His successor, Boniface VIII, imprisoned him to prevent division in the Church. Saint Coelestin V. died in captivity in 1296. He was later canonized and became a symbol of humility and renunciation.
