BIOGRAPHY:
Saint Pedro Poveda Castroverde was born on December 3, 1874, in Linares, Spain. He was ordained a priest in 1897 and dedicated his life to education and social justice. His mission focused on integrating faith into education. In 1911, he founded the Teresian Institution, a movement dedicated to Catholic education. During the religious persecution of the Spanish Civil War, St. Pedro Poveda was arrested and executed in Madrid on July 28, 1936. He was beatified in 1993 and canonized by Pope John Paul II in 2003.
