BIOGRAPHY:
Saint Benignus of Dijon was a Christian martyr who lived in the 3rd century in the region of Dijon, France. According to legend, St. Benignus was sent from Asia Minor to Gaul to preach the Gospel. He was a zealous missionary and significantly contributed to the spread of Christianity in this region. However, his unwavering faith brought him persecution from the Roman authorities, who ultimately condemned him to martyrdom. It is said that he was imprisoned and eventually pierced with a spear. His relics were later venerated in the Abbey of Saint-Bénigne in Dijon, which became a prominent pilgrimage site.
