BIOGRAPHY:
Saint Stephen of Hungary, born as Vajk, was the first king of Hungary and the founder of the Christian kingdom. He was born around 969 as the son of Grand Prince Géza and converted to Christianity, making it the state religion. In 1001, he was crowned king and dedicated his life to the Christianization of the Hungarian people. He established numerous churches and monasteries and created a structured legal system. He died on August 15, 1038, and was canonized in 1083, becoming the national saint of Hungary.
