According to tradition, after Christ's resurrection, St. Simon preached in Egypt, Persia, and possibly Mesopotamia. Together with St. Jude Thaddeus, he spread Christianity in Persia, where both suffered martyrdom. He is said to have been killed either by being sawn in half or by beheading.
