BIOGRAPHY:
Saint Boniface, born Wynfreth in England, was an Anglo-Saxon monk and missionary. Known as the "Apostle of the Germans," he played a crucial role in the Christianization of Germanic territories. Boniface was consecrated a missionary bishop by Pope Gregory II and organized the Church in Franconia, Bavaria, and Hesse. In 754, he was martyred in Dokkum, Friesland, when he and his companions were attacked by pagan Frisians.
