BIOGRAPHY:
Saint Irma was born into a noble family. She was originally supposed to marry Count Hermann, but tragically he was murdered shortly before their wedding. This prompted her to choose a religious life and enter the Öhren convent near Trier, which had been founded by her father. The foundation of the monastery in Echternach, which became an important missionary center, was remarkable.
