BIOGRAPHY:
Saint Camillus de Lellis was born in 1550 in Bucchianico, Italy. After a troubled youth as a soldier and a gambler, he converted and dedicated his life to caring for the sick. He became a priest and founded the Order of the Ministers of the Infirm (Camillians), a community committed to hospital care with a focus on compassion and humanity. His work revolutionized nursing and significantly improved patient care. He died in Rome on July 14, 1614, and was canonized in 1746.
