BIOGRAPHY:
St. Magnus of Füssen, also known as Magnoald or Mang, was a missionary and abbot who worked in southern Germany during the 8th century. His origins are uncertain; some traditions claim he was born in Ireland or Scotland, while others identify him as a disciple of St. Gall. Magnus played a key role in the Christianization of the Allgäu region and founded the Monastery of St. Mang in Füssen, which was later named after him. He traveled across the area, preaching the Gospel and performing miracles according to tradition. One of the most famous legends tells that he drove away a dragon that had been terrorizing the local population. Magnus was known for his deep piety and wisdom. He passed away on September 6, probably in the year 772, in Füssen, where his grave quickly became a pilgrimage site.
