BIOGRAPHY:
Saint Adelphus of Metz was a bishop of the city during the early Middle Ages. He came from a noble family and entered the service of the Church at an early age. Under his influence, Metz flourished both spiritually and culturally. After his death, he was venerated as a saint, and his relics were kept in Neuweiler (Neuwiller-lès-Saverne), which became an important pilgrimage site.
