Biography of St. Amatus:
Amatus was born in a noble family in Grenoble (France). Already in early years, he was placed into the St. Maurice Abbey where he became a Benedictine monk. Soon after though, he decided to lead a hermetic life. In 614, he travelled to Luxeuil and converted important personalities of the court of King Theodbert II. Together with St. Romaric, he founded a dual monastery at Remiremont Abbey of which he became abbot. Amatus died in 627.

BIOGRAPHY:
Saint Amatus was a Benedictine monk and abbot of the monastery in Remiremont in the Vosges. Born in the 7th century, he entered the monastery of Luxeuil at an early age under the guidance of St. Columbanus. Later, he founded the monastery of Remiremont, where he served as abbot. Saint Amatus was known for his piety, ascetic lifestyle, and healing powers. Due to conflicts with secular authorities, he was exiled but was eventually rehabilitated. He died at an old age and was venerated as a saint.
