BIOGRAPHY:
Saint Sigfrid of Sweden was an English missionary and bishop who played a crucial role in the Christianization of Sweden. Originally from England, he was sent to Scandinavia to spread the Gospel. He arrived in Sweden around the year 1008 and gained the trust of King Olof Skötkonung, who eventually converted to Christianity. St. Sigfrid founded several churches, including the diocese of Växjö, and tirelessly preached among the pagan tribes. His three nephews, who assisted him, were martyred by pagan opponents, but he continued his mission until his death around 1045. His work had a lasting impact on the spread of Christianity in Scandinavia.
