BIOGRAPHY:
Saint Ansgar, known as the "Apostle of the North," was born around the year 801 in northern France. He joined the Benedictine order and became a missionary in Scandinavia. St. Ansgar played a key role in the Christianization of Denmark and Sweden. In 831, he was appointed the first Archbishop of Hamburg and Bremen, dedicating his life to spreading Christianity in Northern Europe. He founded churches and schools, cared for the poor and the sick, and was admired for his humility and charity. He passed away on February 3, 865, in Bremen.
