BIOGRAPHY:
Blessed Conrad of Ascoli Piceno was born in Ascoli, Italy, in 1234. He came from the noble Miliani family and joined the Franciscan Order at an early age. Together with his friend Girolamo d'Ascoli, the later Pope Nicholas IV, he continued his education in Assisi and Perugia. After obtaining his doctorate in theology, he taught in Rome and developed a deep devotion to the Holy Trinity. In 1274, he received permission to go to Africa as a missionary, where he preached in various regions of Libya. Due to health problems, he returned and accompanied Girolamo on a mission to France. Later, he taught theology in Paris and dedicated himself to caring for the sick. Pope Nicholas IV intended to appoint him a cardinal, but Conrad passed away on April 19, 1289, in his hometown of Ascoli.
