BIOGRAPHY:
Saint Engelbert, also known as Engelbert of Cologne, was born around 1185 and became Archbishop of Cologne. He came from the noble family of the Counts of Berg. After receiving a thorough education, he was consecrated as Archbishop in 1216. During his tenure, he worked to uphold church rights and enforce reforms. He was a close confidant of Emperor Frederick II and strove to maintain peace in his territory. However, due to political conflicts, he was assassinated in 1225 by order of his own cousin.
