BIOGRAPHY:
Saint Heribert was born around 970 into a noble family. He studied at the cathedral school in Worms and was ordained as a priest. Later, he served as Chancellor to Emperor Otto III and was deeply involved in the political and ecclesiastical affairs of the Holy Roman Empire. In 999, he was appointed Archbishop of Cologne. During his tenure, he was known for his dedication to the poor and war prisoners. He is especially famous for praying for rain during a drought, which was miraculously answered. Saint Heribert also founded the Benedictine monastery of Deutz. He died on March 16, 1021, and was soon venerated as a saint.
