BIOGRAPHY:
Saint Burkhart was the first bishop of Würzburg and played a key role in the Christianization of Franconia. He was likely of English origin and was sent as a missionary to Germany. In 741, he was consecrated bishop of Würzburg and promoted the construction of churches and monasteries. He was a close confidant of Saint Boniface and supported his church reforms. St. Burkhart was especially dedicated to religious education and monastic life. After his death, he was venerated as a saint, particularly in the Würzburg region.
