BIOGRAPHY:
Saint John Gualbert was born around 995 in Florence to a noble family. After his brother was murdered, he swore revenge, but upon meeting the killer, he forgave him in the name of Christ. This moment led to his deep conversion. He joined a monastery and dedicated himself to an ascetic life. Later, St. John Gualbert founded the Benedictine Vallombrosan Order, a monastic reform movement emphasizing poverty and justice. He fought against corruption in the Church and defended the independence of monasteries. He passed away in 1073 and was canonized by Pope Celestine III in 1193.

St. John Gualbert is the patron saint of foresters, lumberjacks, and park rangers. He is also invoked against violence and revenge.
