BIOGRAPHY:
Saint Rainer of Pisa was born around 1115 into a wealthy merchant family in Pisa. Despite his privileged background, he renounced material wealth early in life to embrace asceticism. After a profound religious conversion, he made a pilgrimage to the Holy Land, where he lived in poverty and prayer. Upon returning to Pisa, he entered the monastery of San Vito and led a life of penance and devotion. His deep spirituality and reported miracles made him a revered figure in Pisa. After his death in 1160, he was quickly venerated as a saint, and his tomb in Pisa Cathedral became a pilgrimage site.
