BIOGRAPHY:
Saint Thomas More was an English humanist, statesman, and martyr. Born in London, he received an excellent education and became a lawyer. Later, he served as Lord Chancellor under King Henry VIII. He opposed the separation of the Church of England from Rome and refused to recognize Henry VIII as the head of the Church of England. Because of his unwavering faith, he was executed for high treason in 1535. In 1935, Saint Thomas More was canonized by Pope Pius XI and is now known as the patron saint of politicians and lawyers.
