BIOGRAPHY:
Blessed Hartmann of Brixen was born around 1090 in Bavaria and entered the Rottenbuch Monastery at an early age. He later became provost of the Augustinian Canons' Monastery of Herrenchiemsee. In 1140, he was appointed Bishop of Brixen. During his episcopate, Hartmann of Brixen advocated for reforms within the Church and strengthened monastic life. He was a great supporter of the poor and the sick and promoted the construction of several monasteries and churches. Due to his piety and dedication to the people, he was held in high esteem even during his lifetime. He died on December 23, 1164.
