BIOGRAPHY:
Saint Blaise was a Christian bishop and physician from Sebaste in Armenia. During the persecution under Emperor Licinius, he retreated to a cave, where wild animals protected him. Captured by Roman soldiers, he miraculously healed a boy who had a fishbone stuck in his throat, making him the patron of throat diseases. Despite torture, St. Blaise refused to renounce his faith and was ultimately beheaded. His veneration spread across Europe, and the "Blessing of St. Blaise" remains a well-known Catholic tradition.
