BIOGRAPHY:
Saint Roch was born around 1295 in Montpellier, France. He came from a wealthy family but chose an ascetic life, devoting himself to caring for plague victims in Italy. Through his prayers, many were healed. On his return journey, he contracted the plague and withdrew to a forest, where a dog brought him bread and licked his wounds, aiding his recovery. Upon returning to Montpellier, he was not recognized and was imprisoned as a suspected spy. He died after five years in captivity.
