BIOGRAPHY:
Saint Simeon of Trier was a Byzantine monk born in Constantinople who later lived as a hermit in Trier. He was a pilgrim who traveled through the Holy Land, Armenia, and Rome before settling in Trier. There, he lived in a small cell above the Porta Nigra, dedicating his life to asceticism and prayer. After his death in 1035, he was canonized, and Emperor Henry III built the Church of Saint Simeon in his honor.
