Saint Wiltrud, born in La Colla (Italy), came from a noble family that was closely connected to the political and ecclesiastical developments of her time. However, she renounced worldly power as well as a promising marriage and founded the Benedictine monastery in Bergen near Neuburg.

St. Wiltrud is the patron saint of monks, nuns, monastic foundations and leadership, spirituality and scholarship.
