When did Saint Tatiana live: 3rd century AD
BIOGRAPHY:
Saint Tatiana, born in Rome (Italy), grew up in a secretly converted family. Her father was a respected Roman official and a devout Christian. She rejected her worldly life and thus also marriage in order to dedicate her life to God as a deaconess. Her devotion to the poor, the sick and the persecuted alarmed the Roman authorities under Emperor Severus. He had her tortured after she steadfastly refused to renounce her faith. Some witnesses to her resistance converted to Christianity. If we follow the legend, we come across a remarkable incident of her torture. Tatyana was led before an idol in order to sacrifice to it. Her subsequent prayer is said to have turned it to dust and is interpreted as a divine sign against the pagan faith.
PATRONAGE:
St. Tatiana is the patron saint of students and victims of slander.

The symbols of San Tatiana are a book as a sign of her wisdom, a palm branch, commonly known as a symbol of martyrdom, and lilies, which emphasize her innocence.
