BIOGRAPHY:
Saint Jane Francis of Chantal was born in Dijon (France) as the daughter of the President of the Parliament of Burgundy. At the age of 20, she married the Baron de Chantal, with whom she had six children. Four of them reached adulthood, two died very young. In 1601, her husband died in a hunting accident, whereupon she turned to her religious commitments. St. Francis de Sales became her spiritual guide, with whom she founded the Order of the Visitation of Mary in Annecy. She founded a total of 87 monasteries of the Visitation throughout France and devoted herself tirelessly to the further development of the order.

St. Jane is the patron saint of happy childbirth; of parents, widows and daughters-in-law.
