When did Saint Elvira live: 11th and 12th century AD

BIOGRAPHY:
Saint Elvira came from Trier (Germany) and entered the Öhren monastery at a young age. She dedicated her life to serving her fellow human beings, which is why she was quickly elected abbess. Her administration of the monastery was characterized by great harmony and a well-organized community life. In general, her fellow human beings were very well-disposed towards her. An interesting aspect of Elvira's saintly legend is the fact that many details of her life remain obscure. Although her relics were transferred to Lisbon in 1588, there are few reliable records of the circumstances of her life.

PATRONAGE:
Although St. Elvira does not hold a patronage, she is venerated as a benefactress and spiritual leader.

SYMBOLISM:
The symbols of San Elvira are a book as a sign of wisdom and an abbot's staff, which emphasizes her spiritual leadership.
