BIOGRAPHY:
Saint Renate, born in Lorraine (France), married William V of Bavaria and became the mother of ten children. Their marriage was marked by a lavish ceremony and was considered one of the grandest weddings of its time. After her husband gave his life, she turned her life to charity and benevolence. She is credited with founding the Elisabethen Hospital in Munich, one of the most modern hospitals of the time.

St. Renate is the patron saint of caring for the poor and sick.
