When did Saint Apollonia live: 3rd century BC

BIOGRAPHY:
Saint Apollonia, born in Alexandria (Egypt), was a consecrated virgin and deaconess. During the reign of the Roman Emperor Decius, who initiated one of the worst persecutions of Christians in history, she was arrested and cruelly tortured. Her teeth were knocked out and she was threatened with burning if she did not deny her faith. However, she bravely jumped into the fire under her own steam and died a martyr's death. For a long time, the young church was preoccupied with the question of whether this was a martyrdom or a suicide. However, believers quickly concluded that she was a saint.

PATRONAGE:
St. Apollonia is the patron saint of dentists and dental technicians as well as people suffering from toothache and dental diseases.
