BIOGRAPHY:
Saint Francesca was born in Rome and came from a distinguished noble family. She was always selflessly committed to helping the poor and the sick, even though her father disapproved of her faith and her efforts. At the age of twelve, he married her to Lorenzo Ponziani, with whom she had six children. During the plague epidemic in 1417, two of the children died and Franziska turned part of her palace into a hospital to care for the sick herself. Her charitable efforts led to numerous stories, such as the sudden restocking of her stepfather's larders, which she had emptied for the needy despite his opposition.
