BIOGRAPHY:
Saint Lydia, born in Thyatira (Turkey), was a wealthy businesswoman and is considered the first baptized Christian woman in Europe. She traded in the highly coveted purple fabric, which was extremely expensive and associated with royal garments. It is also curious that she worshipped the Jewish God without having been Jewish herself. One day, Lydia met the apostle Paul, who was preaching the Gospel, and was baptized by him and his companions. From then on, her house served as a meeting place for the city's early Christians.
